“I want color!”
Carol is a Perfect Paver Co customer who knew exactly what she wanted to achieve with her driveway restoration. Carol lives in the Willoughby Golf community located in Stuart on the beautiful Treasure Coast of South Florida. This is a Spanish-style home with a 2500 square foot driveway. This driveway was original to the house and after 26 years, it was time for this area to receive a little TLC. After seeing an advertisement for Perfect Paver Co on Facebook, Carol was confident this was the company for the job. “It was the first and only company I called.”
There were a couple of challenges discussed during the initial conversations of this project. “The community has strict guidelines when it comes to working during certain hours and I had a timeline. I needed this job to be done in a timely manner to fit my schedule” Stated Carol. The team at Perfect Paver Co was able to accommodate Carol’s schedule to work within the community guidelines.
Nathan and Christian were the technicians assigned to Carol’s project. On their very first interaction, Nathan knew this was a customer who had very high expectations and knew exactly what she wanted. This driveway restoration would consist of repairs, cleaning, sanding, tinting, and sealing. The technicians explained the steps and discussed all of the details important to achieving the best results possible. They were confident and excited to provide Carol with a newly restored and beautiful driveway.
Nathan and Christian got right to work starting with repairs. These repairs were necessary due to a water line going under the pavers directly across the driveway. Over time, this caused the pavers to move and distort the congruity of the area. These altered pavers and others were repaired to maintain a consistent look throughout the entire driveway.
After the repairs, the entire area was steam cleaned of many years of use to get ready for the tinting, sanding, and sealing process. The tinting and sanding of the pavers were to be a very precise and specific detail. He made a few test samples on some pavers that were used during the repairing process. The roof of Carol’s house was a gorgeous terra cotta and she knew she wanted the driveway to be in the same family of color. “I knew Carol wanted a very saturated and vibrant color that would go well with the terra cotta roof. It was important for it to not match perfectly, but be close enough that it was consistent,” said Nathan. Certain areas of the driveway were slightly different colors due to wear, tear, and the strong South Florida sun. Nathan decided that water tinting was the way to approach this particular challenge. They finalized the color and it was a perfect choice for the vibrant and consistent color Carol envisioned. Nathan and Christian applied the tint, the sand then sealed it all in beautifully.
Given the challenges that arose during this project, the results were phenomenal. “If Nathan had not been so diligent and hard-working, I probably would not have had the job finished in the time period that worked with my schedule. I thought they did a very, very good and thorough job,” said Carol. The final result of this job was exceptional and most important it was what Carol wanted. Not only was Carol pleased, but so were her neighbors. Many of them came over to compliment the job and to request an estimate of their driveways right then and there.
Occasionally challenges arise on paver restoration projects. Timelines and creating the perfect color were some of the issues that came up during this particular project. This is why it is so important to hire professional experts that are skilled and experienced in any issues that might arise. If anyone is up to these challenges, it’s knowledgeable team members of Perfect Paver Co.
Mary and her husband live in the Sandpiper Bay neighborhood of Port Saint Lucie. They have lived in their home for around 25 years. When they originally moved into this quadruplex, the patio had wooden slats that laid over the dirt to create their front patio area. This setup would not last long. Mary decided to have the gorgeous and unique flagstone installed. The man she hired to do the job was a semi-retired stonemason from Italy. During his career, he focused on the stonework of churches throughout Sicily. This skilled man installed the stone and did a beautiful job on the patio. Not only did he lay the flooring, but he also built a BBQ Grill, planter, and accent wall all out of this beautiful flagstone to complete the patio. “During the time he spent working on the job, he had opera playing loudly outside while he worked. That’s the colorful part of the story besides the stone.” Said, Mary
As time seems to do, it took a toll on this area and Mary and her husband wanted to bring back its natural beauty. After many years and many attempts at cleaning up these stones, it was time to give this area a full rejuvenation. They did not specifically use the patio much due to its direct sunlight, but they wanted it to look as beautiful as possible. It was their view and what they looked at day after day. Mary knew it was time to bring out this patio’s full potential.
After a year of contemplation, Mary came across an advertisement for Perfect Paver on her Facebook Feed. She took a look at the website and was very impressed. She decided to give them a call. Mary was put on the schedule and Ethan and Jarrod were the technicians assigned to the job. Immediately upon arrival, Ethan could visualize and understand the full potential of this project. He saw the beautiful flagstone and all the care and skill that went into creating this area. Unfortunately, this space had become very overgrown with weeds, mold and dirt. It had organic growth as well as failed sealer. The first step would be to get the area all cleaned up.
Ethan and Jarrod knew what this job would entail and came up with a game plan. They explained the steps to Mary, and they discussed all expectations and details. The first step would be to remove any of the old sealer that had been left in the past. There had previously been other attempts at restoration projects, but none of them made Mary or her husband 100% satisfied. The old sealer was removed revealing a fresh pallet to work on. The joints in the stone had old mortar in them that had broken down over the years. The technicians decided to blow out all of this old and broken-down mortar and replace it with tan poly sand that matched the flagstone and original mortar. After sanding, the final step was to seal everything in. The technicians decided on an enhanced sealer that brought out the beautiful colors and patterns of the flagstone revealing its natural beauty.
Mary and her husband are so delighted with the results. The restoration did not stop at the flooring, but continued on to the BBQ, planter and accent wall. These areas were brought back to their original beauty and function. “Where the stones had started to separate, they did such a great job of filling these cracks in with the perfect color sand,” said Mary. Not only were Mary and her husband pleased with the results, but with the excellent customer service from everyone at Perfect Paver. “Ethan was a doll and so easy to work with. He explained things well and did a great job. It was delightful working with him and in the 25 years of living in this house, he was one of the best workers we have ever had”, Said Mary
This job was a perfect combination of great communication from the homeowners and technicians mixed with superb results. Ethan stated, “It was definitely a great experience working with them and I am very proud of the final results.” The before compared to the after was remarkable and the natural beauty of the flagstone was brought back to life. It was a job the original installer would have been so pleased with. The only thing these techs were missing was the sound of opera music playing in the background.
